Responsibilities

Master Data Management is a Corporate-wide initiative focused on the establishment of master data sets and on-going governance of Customer, Product and other core data in our Platforms. The Global Data & Analytics team is looking for experienced people with skill sets that enable us to successfully deliver our many project objectives.

We are looking for an experienced Business Analyst / Data Analyst with an objective to assist with the continued implementation of a master data program for the organization with strong data management and governance practices.

The individual will be working in IT and collaboratively across the organization including business teams create and manage master data sets including the establishment of data standards, data models, data quality measures, metadata management, data integration with traceability, etc.

Key Responsibilities:

• Iron Mountain Resource that has intimate knowledge of one or more of the IRM Business Processes

• Empowered to make decisions with regards to MDM implementation interaction with those IRM Business Processes

• Iron Mountain Resource that has intimate knowledge of the source system data, how it is stored and what it is used for (extract / load process)

• Empowered to make decisions with regards to MDM implementation interaction with those IRM business processes

• Assist with the creation of and sign off on source to target data mapping documents

• Lead requirements gathering work stream

• Conduct quality assurance reviews of phase deliverables

• Represent the MDM Product from a detailed business functionality level, understand MDM Services transactions, and overall functionality of the application

• Have knowledge of existing business functionality and define the functional requirements

• Conduct requirements sessions with key client stakeholders

• Develop use case documentation

• Assist with Rules around MDM Services and Data

• Assist with service mapping

• Assist in automating and strengthening data management controls by building robust systems with an eye on the long-term and ongoing maintenance and support of the applications

• Perform routine data investigations to profile and analyze data sets to address data quality and integrity. Build and implement tools to monitor data quality, while ensuring high quality data solutions. Able to manage security mechanisms that enable data access restrictions

• With an advanced understanding of the principles of data quality management, including metadata, lineage, and business definitions, implements data governance procedures and policies. Evaluate processes for gaps and inefficiencies and provide recommendations for improvement

• Demonstrate an understanding of the use of data to solve a business use case. Create an access strategy to ensure effective implementation across the enterprise. Develop and define data validation, verification, and reconciliation strategies to support data governance, stewardship, and security

• Be able to influence decision makers on the outcome of an initiative based on its perceived value. Works with stakeholders to define metrics that are impactful for the business

• Maintain close working relationship with data providers and partners, partnering with IT to collaborate on deliverables

• Help drive cross-team design and development of sustainable data driven solutions that meet the needs of the business customers through technical leadership and mentoring.

• Design and develop architecture solutions to meet the technical and business requirements. Able to work with stakeholders to design and execute iterative solution testing to ensure desired product specifications are met

Technical Capabilities

• Responsible for preparation of the mapping spreadsheet; populating the spreadsheet with the MDM entities and attributes; mapping client source system attributes provided by the source system and data owners

• Facilitate and drive mapping sessions with source system and data owners.

• Document transform statements and rules based on mapping sessions with source system owners

• Responsible for the content of the source to target mapping and the communication with the source system owners and SMEs.

• Responsible for capturing and communicating the necessary extensions and additions to the MDM model and transform rules to the lead developers on the ETL team

• Drives to resolution all outstanding action items and mapping queries

• Communicates mapping updates to team lead and lead developers

• Responsible for confirming mappings and responding to questions from ETL team during specification design and coding.

• Respond to questions on mapping and assist ETL team and testers during unit testing and system integration testing.

• Bachelor’s degree and relevant project, data / business analysis work experience (10 years, preferably)

• Reference data and/or entity data experience a plus

• Attention to detail and accuracy is essential and ability to prioritize in a dynamic environment

• Excellent verbal, written, analysis and presentation skills

• Advanced proficiency with MS Office including Excel, Power Point, Word and MS Access

Business Architecture

• Has detailed knowledge of the architecture of the business systems which support more than one core business area.

• Demonstrates knowledge of how the core business areas' applications and support systems are structured, how various components and parts interact, as well as what protocols and interfaces are used for communications and cooperation between components.

• Independently delivers on objectives with understanding of how they impact the results of own area/team and other related teams.

• Manage and plan work breakdown for implementation of solution

• Interact closely with business to analyze and understand existing systems

• Provide alternative options and approach to possible BI solutions to a problem

• Provide consultation to cross functional / technical teams like database, infra, network and licensing

• Well versed with upgrades respective to database, ETL and BI tools.

• Must follow the SDLC / Agile approach in implementation of the WBS

• Must be hands on in data modeling and data architecture at low level

• Must have worked on at least one Data quality and data mining tools

• Be able to optimize and tune the data warehouse and plan for future scalability and capacity

• Must to have worked and implemented Master data Management and customer hierarchies

• Must have worked on data preparation, sampling and sourcing.

• Hands on and expert on data analysis within and outside data warehouse

Data Analysis

• Demonstrates excellent problem solving skills, applies critical thinking to analyze patterns in the data

• Demonstrates mastery of the skill in practical applications of complex data integrations.

• Should be able to design conceptual, logical and physical data model or object model of high complexity

• Is able to document a data model in a data dictionary or repository. Should have in depth experience in one or more centralized model management tools like ERWIN

• Identifies redundant data objects and data items that can be re-used across applications.

• Identifies data transformation requirements.

• Can identify data gaps in data or object models and recommend appropriate changes.

Qualifications

  • Experience with MDM tools from IBM, Informatica or others

  • Experience with data modeling tools such Erwin, Toad Data Modeler

  • Job requires Bachelor's and 12+ years of experience or the equivalent. Prefer Masters with 10+ years of experience
