Responsibilities

The Data Center Critical Facility Utility Technician will be responsible for the day-to-day operational needs of Iron Mountain data center facilities. He/she will maintain the operating condition of building structures and critical infrastructure equipment of the Data Centers. Technician must be able to work multiple shifts including weekends and double shifts if required. They must be able to work with limited supervision.

Conduct preventative and corrective maintenance, and cleaning routines.(40%)

Escort and supervise vendors to insure compliance with safely, security and Data Center policies (20%

Monitor and respond to alerts, alarms, and emergency situations (5%)

Perform small projects in the critical environments and its support areas. These projects include but are not limited to Electrical power outlets/feeders, Low voltage control, Data circuits, Plumbing, Raised floor modifications, Mechanical/Ductwork, drip pans and insulating (25%)

Operate under the direction of the Data Center CF Tech or Operations Manager UPS’s, Generators, Automatic Transfer Switch’s, Switchgear, Chillers, Variable Frequency Drive’s, Motor Starters, Power Meters, Computer Based Control/Alarm systems, Fire Alarm, Security Alarm, CCTV and Card Access (10%)

Job Responsibilities:

Able to work multiple shifts including weekends and double shifts if required.

Assist the Data Center CF Tech to quickly asses the problem and either make the repair or manage the repair by calling out one of our vendors.

Attend ongoing training to meet minimum job requirements and as new equipment or process are developed.

Perform daily inspections of the critical infrastructure including data collection and evaluation Construct, test, install, and repair power circuits and data cables to computer equipment.

Repair and perform preventive maintenance on CRAHs, AHUs, Chillers, Pumps, Cooling Towers, Plumbing, and Insulation, Troubleshoot complex electrical, mechanical, and control systems and equipment.

Supervise external vendors to ensure the regulations and operational procedures are followed.

Able to work without little or no supervision Able to operate UPS’s, Generators, Automatic Transfer Switch’s, Switchgear, Chillers, Variable Frequency Drive’s, Motor Starters, Power Meters, Computer Based Control/Alarm systems, Fire Alarm, Security Alarm, CCTV and Card Access.

Should be able to develop a good understanding of the following test devices: Multi-meter, IR Meter, Data Cable Tester, Power Analyzer

Must be able to follow procedures to the letter without deviating.

Qualifications

Functional Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies:

The successful candidate must be a graduate from an apprenticeship, trade school, or have at least 2 years of experience in one or more of the following Trades:

Commercial Electrician with electrical maintenance experience. Electronics Technician preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment with VFD and DDC controls experience. Commercial HVAC Technician. Facility engineering. Controls and Instrumentation Technician Appropriate relevant military training.

A valid driver’s license

Basic mechanical skills for servicing lubricating and replacing belts on air handlers pump repair, and troubleshooting

Must live within one hour drive of the facility

Show the ability to learn the theory of operation of: Generators, double conversion UPS, transformers, circuit breaker panels, switchgear, centrifugal pumps, remotely actuated valves, cooling towers, chillers (including the refrigeration cycle), and heat exchangers

Perform service electrical tasks such as whip/electrical circuit pulls Familiarity with the procedures for performing hot work on energized electrical panels including OSHA safeguards and protective equipment Ability to learn and retain sequence-of-operations for all data centers in assigned location Practical knowledge of firefighting is recommended Knowledge of basic electrical theory including Ohm's Law, AC power, power/voltage/current relationship, grounding, and electrical circuits.

Qualifications:

Minimum Education: High School

Preferred Education: 2 Yrs College

Minimum Experience: 2 – 4 Years
