Responsibilities

Data Center Senior Critical Facility Technician will conduct preventative and corrective maintenance routines.

Physically monitor equipment conditions and performance.

Monitor and respond to alerts, alarms, and emergency situations.

Troubleshoot complex electrical, mechanical, and control systems and equipment.

Operate UPS’s, Generators, Automatic Transfer Switch’s, Switchgear, Chillers, Variable Frequency Drive’s, Motor Starters, Power Meters, Computer Based Control/Alarm systems, Fire Alarm, Security Alarm, CCTV and Card Access.

  • Able to work multiple shifts including weekends and double shifts if required.

  • Able to quickly asses the problem and either make the repair or manage the repair by calling out one of our vendors.

  • Attend ongoing training to meet minimum job requirements and as new equipment or process are developed.

  • Perform daily inspections of the critical infrastructure including data collection and evaluation

  • Construct, test, install, and repair power circuits and data cables to computer equipment.

  • Repair and perform preventive maintenance on CRAHs, AHUs, Chillers, Pumps, Cooling Towers, Plumbing, and Insulation,

  • Troubleshoot complex electrical, mechanical, and control systems and equipment.

  • Supervise external vendors to ensure the regulations and operational procedures are followed.

  • Able to work without little or no supervision

  • Able to operate UPS’s, Generators, Automatic Transfer Switch’s, Switchgear, Chillers, Variable Frequency Drive’s, Motor Starters, Power Meters, Computer Based Control/Alarm systems, Fire Alarm, Security Alarm, CCTV and Card Access.

  • Should possess a good understanding of the following test devices: Multi-meter, IR Meter, Data Cable Tester, Power Analyzer

  • Review and update complex mechanical and electrical drawings

  • Must be able to follow procedures to the letter without deviating

Qualifications

  • The successful candidate must be a graduate from an apprenticeship, trade school, or have at least 5 years of experience in one or more of the following Trades:

  • Commercial Electrician preferably in a Data Center environment with electrical maintenance experience.

  • Electronics Technician preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment with VFD and DDC controls experience.

  • Commercial HVAC Technician with chiller, water pump, and cooling tower experience.

  • Facility engineering with critical infrastructure experience.

  • Controls and Instrumentation Technician

  • Appropriate military training and service such as the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program.

  • Basic mechanical skills for servicing lubricating and replacing belts on air handlers pump repair, and troubleshooting

  • Be able to reproduce, from memory, single line diagrams of all data centers in assigned location

  • Have knowledge of the theory of operation of: Generators, double conversion UPS, transformers, circuit breaker panels, switchgear, centrifugal pumps, remotely actuated valves, cooling towers, chillers (including the refrigeration cycle), and heat exchangers

  • Perform service electrical tasks such as whip/electrical circuit pulls

  • Familiarity with the procedures for performing hot work on energized electrical panels including OSHA safeguards and protective equipment

  • Ability to learn and retain sequence-of-operations for all data centers in assigned location

  • Knowledge of the theory of data center fire detection and suppression. Practical knowledge of firefighting is recommended

  • Knowledge of basic electrical theory including Ohm's Law, AC power, power/voltage/current relationship, grounding, and electrical circuits.
