Reporting to the Director - IT Operations, this position will be a key Information Technology change agent in the digital transformation journey of Iron Mountain. Looking for a strong IT Cloud Engineer with 3+ years of cloud operations experience to join the cloud governance program at Iron Mountain.
This would include development of operating guardrails that enable maximum security & velocity while ensuring financial optimization, and working with infrastructure & engineering teams who are also attempting to accelerate the move from traditional on premise models.
This candidate will possess the necessary balance of technical talent and is capable of executing on a strategic vision. The Cloud Engineer will need to build relationships across all layers of the organization; thus should be an effective communicator.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Implements cloud operations guardrails that enable low risk, high velocity IT operations that align to Iron Mountain Enterprise Architecture SOPs. Primary tools are Terraform, GitLab pipelines, and a higher level language such as Python, Go, Nodejs.
Beyond just Engineering, this technician will fulfill cloud operations activities, such as attending meetings to capture cloud requirements, execute on the developed engineering, using Cloud CLIs and cloud consoles to enable access, networking, security, reliability, and cost optimization.
Follows industry best practice security standards. Implement tooling to continuously improve the overall Iron Mountain security and risk posture.
Shows deep interest in a multi-cloud skill set as we are enabling GCP, AWS, and Azure cloud service providers.
Desire to become GCP & AWS certified and/or keep growing your certification credentials.
Number of Years of Work Experience: 3+ with extensive cloud experience
Strong knowledge of cloud technologies and cloud economics including AWS, Azure, GCP (GCP preferred)
Strong knowledge of and desire to build out Terraform infrastructure as code, as well as develop GitLab pipelines to drive automation.
Proficient in at least one of these higher level languages: Python, Go, or NodesJS.
Strong, proven problem-solving and analytical skills with the flexibility to solve problems quickly; and then remove any tech debt by following up with long-term solutions.
Must be committed to a culture of continuous improvement
Exceptional customer service skills, in addition to extensive experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
Must be able to communicate effectively with users, executives and leaders at all levels
Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks
Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and teams with competing priorities.
Cloud Certifications are a big plus, or at least the desire to become certified. Must commit to at least 2 certifications in the first 2 years.
BS/BA degree in Computer Science/ Information Technology/ Information Security or related field or equivalent experience
